5-star hotels in Jeddah occupy the leading position in the hospitality sector of Middle East in terms of occupancy and rates per room. This information has been provided by the largest Lebanese bank Credit Libanais. In order to conduct this study, the researchers from the bank collected data from 32 4-star and 5-star hotels in Abu Dhabi, Beirut, Jeddah, and Cairo. Jeddah accommodations scored first with the average occupancy of 78.2%. Hotels in Beirut got the second place with 64.5%; Abu Dhabi accommodations feature occupancy of 60.9% and Cairo is the least popular among these cities with modest occupancy of 39.2%.
While the average occupancy in the hotels of the Middle East reaches only 59.2%, Jeddah stands out with its popularity. Cairo accommodations feature great decline in occupancy this year. Normally this place is very popular among tourists from Europe, but political unrest makes people choose other destinations for rest. Even though suites in 5-star hotels are sold at 50% of their normal price, travellers prefer other locations that are safe, so they can relax and enjoy entertainments.
In June 2011 the average price for a room in the Middle East estimated $96. In Jeddah this sum reached $168, $136 in Beirut and $79 in Abu Dhabi. Return per room in Jeddah hotels reached 36%. As a rule this figure is very important for businessmen, so we can expect new hotel deals and openings in this city.
