It is reported that several luxurious palaces that once have been the property of Saddam Hussein will be turned into hotels. The transformation will be started as soon as the US forces will leave these accommodations.
The Iraq government has already revealed its plans concerning the transformation. It has selected 9 palaces of Hussein and has restricted the future of these objects as tourist and cultural facilities. US military forces may leave these palaces next year. According to Abdul Zahra Talaqani, the spokesman of Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, the palaces will be used to serve different goals. Some of them will be given to museums and other cultural institutions, while others will welcome tourists. The famous palace on the north of Bagdad that overlooks the Tigris River will be also turned into a resort.
Talaqani is sure the new hotels will become very popular among either Iraqis or international visitors as travellers will enjoy living in such historically significant places.
