The first data about June reveals not very positive situation for hotels in Europe. According to statistics the average rates in this region now cost approximately £4 less comparing to May.
Currently the average cost of a midscale guestroom in Europe costs around £113 per night. The information provided by OTA shows this trend is valid for the majority of European destinations. The company surveyed 50 markets and 35 of them feature the decrease in costs in June. In addition to this other 11 markets mention their rates per guestroom have lowered by at least 10% or more.
However, the situation is not that negative throughout Europe. For example, UK accommodations have retained their guestroom costs or even increased them. Some markets have reached their maximum for many months. Among the leaders are hotels in Edinburg with the increase of 6% (the average guestroom price here estimates £132), hotels in Cardiff (+21% or £106), and hotels in Manchester (added 8% to £107). Among the UK cities only Liverpool, Birmingham, and Newcastle accommodations had to decrease their rates.
If taking Europe in general, the most expensive destinations remain the same. Tourists will have to empty their wallets to stay in hotels of Geneva with their average £273 per night, Venice (£273), while a night in London accommodations will cost £181. The fourth and fifth places are occupied by Paris and Stockholm with £167 and £159 respectively.
In this situation leisure tourists are more likely to find good deals as rates go down in popular resorts of Europe. Barcelona rates are 10% down, while Istanbul features a decrease of 8%.
