Even though political unrest makes some hoteliers to stop their activities in Syria, the others are eager to open up new business there. Jumeirah Group is currently in the process of work concerning the opening of a hotel in Damascus, the capital of Syria. The famous hotelier plans to run a 5-star hotel in this city.
The hotel will be managed by the Dubai-headquartered hotelier according to the agreement with Souriah Holding. Jumeirah Group will operate the 350-key luxurious accommodation located in Baramkeh, the central area of the Syria’s capital. Jumeirah Abraj Souria will be a part of the development that also includes a trading center with numerous boutiques, a tower dedicated to offices and commercial/exhibition space.
The representatives of Jumeirah state the building comes according to the plan despite the political situation in Syria. The management agreement between Jumeirah Group and Souraih Holding is yet to be signed. Currently both parties work over the finalization of all clauses of the contract.
This year a series of protests against the current government and the president Bashar Al Assad has occurred in Syria. The protests have been violent and approximately 500 have been killed during them.
