MGM Hospitality is really serious when it comes to spreading the network of its hotels in China. The company has states it plans to have 30 operating properties in this country by 2015.
MGM Resorts International is a Las Vegas-based hotelier, but in China it will promote its nongaming facilities. At the moment this company has 9 hotels in China under development. This is about a half of all hotels by MGM scheduled for opening in Asia Pacific region. However, the hotelier thinks this is just the beginning.
As Michael Sagild, the managing director of MGM Hospitality Asia Pacific, said in his interview to Bloomberg News, there is a rush on MGM’s brands at the moment. Even several months ago he would tell the hotelier will have maximum of 15 accommodations in China by 2015. Now he doubles this figure, because numerous developers are interested in collaboration with MGM.
Currently MGM Hospitality has no properties in China. The first accommodation is scheduled for opening this year. This is going to be a hotel in Sanya. Sagild also names other strategic markets of the company. These are Indonesia, Singapore and Malaysia.
