A Hotel That Looks Like a Giant Ping Pong Paddle May be Built in China

Huainan hotels may have quite a strange addition in future as it was proposed to build a 150-m hotel that looks like a ping pong paddle.

According to China Daily, the government of the Chinese city has developed a project of a hotel that looks like an erected ping pong paddle. The hotel will have several areas – the top of the hotel will be represented by a handle of the paddle and will be used as an observation area. The paddle will contain hotel rooms, while first floors of the building will be used for conference-related facilities. The building of this hotel in China may cost approximately 300 million yuan (around USD 46 million).

The paddle is a part of the complex devoted to sports theme. According to its developers, the complex may contain an open air stadium that is shaped as American football and 3 more facilities also shaped like balls for volleyball, soccer and basketball. All facilities and the hotel are designed by Mei Jikui.

If approved, the following complex will be built within 5 years. The total building costs estimate 1.8 billion yuan (approximately USD 276 million).
