Starwood will soon debut on the Indian market with its W Hotels brand. The first property by this brand will be W hotel in Mumbai. The hotel will be located in south-central Mumbai that is famous by its unforgettable architecture with colonial monuments. This will be the first hotel in India under this brand.
The 350-key W Mumbai will be opened according to a management contract with the hotel’s owner – Jaguar Buildcon Pte. Ltd. The hotel will be a part of Namaste Tower – a mixed-use building with 55 stores. The approximate date of the opening is somewhere in 2015.
As Frits van Paasschen, the hotelier’s CEO and president, mentions, currently the global aim of Starwood Hotels &Resorts is to open hotels in the most vibrant destinations of the world. The launch of W Mumbai perfectly fits this target. The hotel will combine contemporary approach with design and fashion. When W hotel in Mumbai starts operating, Starwood will already have 7 of the hotelier’s 9 brands present in India.
Starwood doesn’t plan to limit its W brand and wants to open more hotels by this name in India. W Hotels fit both leisure and business travellers, so the company wants to open them in all major cities of India. The most attractive locations for Starwood are Delhi NCR region, Kerala and Goa.
