A famous Chinese hotelier Jin Jiang International Hotel Group Co. Ltd. has ambitious plans of expanding its portfolio by adding properties mostly in budget sector. The Shanghai-headquartered company plans to concentrate its efforts on domestic market as well as some crucial international markets. Currently Jin Jiang operates over 600 hotels in China and has plans of expanding its portfolio up to 1000 objects by 2015.
According to the interview of the company’s CEO Yang Weimin to Business China, the hotelier plans to increase the number of hotels in its portfolio by opening new accommodations in China’s lower-tier cities. Together with this the company wants to expand its presence on the markets of the United States and Europe. According to statistics, more business and leisure tourists from China visit these continents and they are more likely to choose their domestic brand they already know for a stay.
Jin Jiang is the largest hotelier in China. The company is also present in the list of the world’s largest hotel operators and franchisors by Hotels’ 365, where the company occupies the 13th place. In the end of 2010 the portfolio of this hotelier enumerated 111 star-rated hotels with the total number of guestrooms exceeding 34,000. The number of budget hotels in China by Jin Jiang reaches 596 or 73,350 guestrooms in total.
