Hospitality consultancy Horwath HTL has revealed the results of its recent survey that covered hotel operators from different countries. According to this study hoteliers are finally optimistic about future and expect major growth since the financial crisis of 2008.
The survey covered hoteliers from 50 countries of the world. Horwath HTL notices nowadays hoteliers are worried about availability of oil and its price, but overall forecast is very positive and they believe in full recovery from the long crisis.
Hoteliers in Oceania are most positive about their business. This region got the survey score of 58. A bit back are the hoteliers from Asia with the score of 52. Hoteliers in North and South America were very worried about the worsening of the crisis in 2010, but they started the year optimistically and got 37. Surprisingly, hotels in Europe got just 34 points.
The growth of hotel industry is impossible without improved economic situation. Even though today’s environment looks very promising, there are still factors that have negative impact. These are the recent events in the Middle East and North Africa, and high oil prices over US$100 a barrel. These factors have an impact on fuel costs, airlines and thus travel. If these problems are solved, the year can be very successful for hoteliers all over the world.
