Hotels in London keep improving their performance, remaining the leaders among hotels in Europe. In January 2011 the growth was, however, a bit slower comparing to previous months.
According to the survey provided by TRI Hospitality Consulting, a RevPAR (revenue per available apartment) increased by 3.3% in January, while GOPPAR (gross operating profit per available room) remained the same. Occupancy level in January was a bit worse and decreased by 3.6%, however, this fact didn’t interfere with ADR that showed an increase of 8.8%.
2010 was an excellent year for hotels in London. The majority of accommodations finished the year with good stats. January is a traditionally tough month for hotels, but even here London accommodations managed to look fine.
An interesting fact – major growth in RevPAR is shown by 5-star London hotels. They showed the increase of 3.7%, while 3-star hotels’ increase was just 2.3% and 1.7% for 4-start accommodations.
Such positive tendency is also powered by the growing number of tourists. According to the stats provided by Heathrow Airport, this January the airport welcomed the maximal number of tourists since 2006. This increase is supported by growing number of visitors from China and India. Overall number of tourists reached 7.5 million, featuring an increase of 3.8%.
What about the rest of the UK? In January hotels in the UK reached 2.9% growth in RevPAR, but GOPPAR went down. This is the fourth month in a row decrease for hotels in province.
