Accor, a Paris-based hotelier, plans to concentrate its efforts on exploring Asia Pacific region and opening there as many properties as possible. 2010 was quite successful in this area as Accor managed to open 41 hotels and around 7,000 guestrooms in total. The number of agreements concerning hotels operation is also tremendous – over 70 new properties to come this year. This will add another 16,000 guestrooms to the company’s portfolio. Accor is now known as one of the most prolific hotel managing companies in Asia Pacific region. Here the company operates around 430 hotels and over 83,000 guestrooms in total.
According to current strategy of Accor, the company plans to enlarge its presence in the regions, paying particular attention to new hotels in Thailand, China, Vietnam, Indonesia and India. The company uses so called “asset right” strategy that includes participating in investment of hotels in China and India. Accommodations in Indonesia, Vietnam and Thailand are only operated on management agreements.
Accor also doesn’t forget about Australian market, where the hotelier is successfully developing thanks to its efficient franchise strategy.
