Qatar-based fund is planning to build a luxury hotel in London

Qatar Holding LLC plans to create a luxury hotel on the roof of a famous Harrods trading center. The hotel in London will provide upscale service and luxury apartments for all visitors. Currently Harrods considers several opportunities of the roof usage. Right now this is the place for a children clothes store that might be replaced by a restaurant in case the decision about the hotel launching will be taken positively.

The volume of investments, the approximate number of rooms as well as other details of the project are not disclosed. Also it’s not yet clearly known whether the owners of the trading center got the permission to change a historical building.

The plans concerning the rebuilding of the Harrods roof have appeared long ago. For example, in 2007 British newspapers wrote about an eccentric idea of creating a zoo. This was offered by the trading center’s creative director Bill Mitchell. Harrods was sold to Qatar Holding LLC fund in May 2010. The previous owner, Mohamed Al Fayed got rid of this property for $2.2 billion.

Harrods is one of the most famous trading centers in the capital of the United Kingdom. This premium quality multi brand store occupies almost whole quarter in the center of London. The number of employees in this trading center estimates 6000 people. Every day Harrods is visited by more than 35 thousands of buyers. The trading center contains over 330 departments that sell various goods.
