Former Bernardian Monastery in Minsk, Belarus Republic, is soon to be transformed into a hotel. So far, the monastery complex is known to have been included into a major hospitality development program as part of preparation program for the 2014 World Hockey Championship.
In 1864, the building was confiscated from the the Order due the pilgrims' and monks' involvement in the January rebellion. Today, the monastery complex is home to archived scientific documentation and works of national culture and literature.
There is an opinion that it is better to make the archive into a museum rather than into a hotel. Michail Zhyh, senior engineer of the Contractor Management Committee, does not rule out such a possibility. He said it was very likely that there would soon be a museum to tell city residents and tourists stories about the life of Bernardian monks.
