Preobrazhensky Cathedral is one of the most famous architectural complexes that are definitely worth your attention. It was built in the beginning of the 19th century by the order of Katherine II. The church is built by best architects and so it is valuable not only as a historical object, but also as a piece of art. St. Nicolas church is widely known as a wonderful example of the classicism epoch. The walls of the church are decorated with beautiful paintings. Among famous religious buildings of Dnepropetrovsk we should also mention Bryansk Nicolas Church built in 1915.
Potemkin Palace, which is located in the center of the city’s parks, is also worth your attention. The project of the palace was developed by best architects and builders of that time lead by I. Starov. Today the parade part of the palace is turned into a Palace of Culture, and here take place exhibitions of young painters, poetic evenings, and theater performances. Not far away from the park you can see the building of the hotel “Ukraine” that was built in 1912. Initially the building was used as a theatre, but after the revolution of 1917 it was rebuilt and turned into a hotel. Nowadays only a part of the distant wing of the building is turned into a space for theater performances.
You can learn the history of Dnepropetrovsk by attending Museum of History and Museum of Antiquity. After this take some rest in one of the city’s numerous parks with picturesque nature. The majority of the parks were created yet in the previous century. In the perks you will also find several memorials and statues devoted to great artists and politicians.
