11. If, after passing the breath test, the blood alcohol content is more than 1.2 ppm, the amount of the fine will be between 500 and 10,000 euro. The driver’s license is also likely to be cancelled. Imprisonment of up to three years is a typical additional punishment in this case. Motorists with driving experience of less than two years should not forget that the maximum permitted blood alcohol content for them is 0.2 ppm.
12. Lower beams are mandatory only when traveling through a tunnel and in adverse weather conditions, when visibility is less than 100 meters. Even if the tunnel is lit, drivers are still obliged to use lower beams.
13. Children under 3 years can be transported only in the back seat of the car and only in a special chair or fastened by an appropriate belt system. Children aged 3 to 18 are allowed to be carried in the front seat of the car, but in this case the seat must be equipped with a restraint system that fits weight and height of the child.

15. Just like in several other countries, it is not allowed to talk on a cell phone while driving in Luxembourg. The penalty for this violation is 79 euro. If there is a need to call while driving, your phone must be equipped with the «hands free» device.

19. Motorists are allowed to use studded tires only in the period from early December to late March. If you need to drive on a road that is covered with snow and ice, it is allowed to use snow chains.
20. When driving in residential areas, motorists may notice the sign with «Zone de rencontre» mark. It alerts drivers of the living area start, so the maximum permitted speed here is 20 km/h. Pedestrians have the priority in such areas, so drivers must give way to them even in unregulated crossings.
21. It is important to pay attention to the distance between cars. When driving in the countryside, the distance of approximately two seconds is considered an optimal one.
