One of the most popular tourist destinations remains Diablo Canyon. Tourists also love to visit the conservation area Randall Davey Audubon Center & Sanctuary. The Allan Houser Sculpture Gardens and Gallery is the place to go if you want to combine a walk along a natural landmark with admiration of manmade works of art. As the name easily suggests, tourists can appreciate the beautiful statues here. You can also enjoy the scent of fragrant flowers in the beautiful Botanical Garden.
The Camel Rock Monument is another interesting natural attraction. It got its name due to its unusual shape that resembles a camel. You can gain great experience by visiting the Meow Wolf Cultural Center, one of the favorite places for tourists who want to take great pictures. It is like a journey to another world, with entirely different laws of the surrounding universe. It is a vivid and colorful combination of home with pillars and space for art. Not far from New Mexico’s capital is the city Pojoaque, whose main value is considered to be the Poeh Cultural Center Museum – the entire state’s “hidden treasure”, offering true acquaintance with the culture of the Indian people of the Pueblo group. The center’s uniqueness lies in the fact that small figurines by the sculptor Roxanne Swentzell show scenes from the important aspect of the life of the Indians – traditional crafts like fishing, hunting, weaving. Beautiful Indian homes with wall paintings by Marcellus Medina are also on display. The houses’ peculiarity is that they are arranged in different ways in different seasons. You can also discover an original cinema hall inside the cultural center and you can visit the museum free of charge.
San Fransisco de Asis For movie-lovers, another ranch – J.W. Eaves Movie Ranch – will be interesting: the fact is that several westerns have been filmed here (Silverado, Lonesome Dove, and The Magnificent Seven). The southern region of Barrio de Analco seems as if it “emerged” from the films themselves, representing the historic quarter where the oldest buildings of the US colonial era are located. The historic district is home to a total of seven traditional pueblo-style buildings, including Palace of Governors of 1610 and the “oldest house” De Vargas Street House of 1620. The name of the quarter has an interesting origin, which means “a place near the water”. It was built for the poor people – artists, servants, and workers, while the rich strata settled in a place that we now know as Santa Fe.
