1. High season is the period from early May to late October; this time the weather is very favorable and sunny. Beach goers are recommended to visit the island in summer; fans of hiking and excursions are recommended to refrain from trips in summer months.
2. The only form of public transport on the island is bus; you can easily travel between major cities and towns. The main bus station is located on the waterfront of Chora, where you can specify the bus schedule and other important information.
3. Tourists who plan to travel a lot around the island would find it convenient to rent a car. An international driver's license and a credit card for collateral would be necessary; however, many travelers prefer to rent a scooter.
4. You are advised to bargain at local markets and private stores, as it will reduce the price. Bargaining shouldn’t be taken too seriously, so don’t reckon on huge discount; usually it helps to reduce 10 - 15% of the price or to obtain additional items.
6. It is required to leave a tip for good service. About 10 % of the amount is left in restaurants; in spas and beauty salons tips are same. Paying a taxi, you can just round the total to any convenient sum.
7. It is profitable to buy wine and liquor in specialized stores located at wineries. Another advantage of visiting such stores is an opportunity for taste interesting drinks for free.
