Deutsche Hospitality doesn’t plan to stop the expansion of its hotel portfolio despite the global downfall in tourism due to the pandemic. The hotelier announced its plans to open two new hotels on the South China Sea coast. The two Haiyan hotels will operate under the Steigenberger brand and will be a part of the Hangzhou Bay Sunac Cultural Tourism City. This is a new and developing tourist destination situated approximately 100 kilometers southwest of Shanghai.
The new Sunac Cultural Tourism City hotels are set to open in the first quarter of 2022. The hotels will be a part of a large complex with a total area of 291 hectares. Besides the hotels, there will be as many as four leisure parks, a residential district, and a large shopping area. The partnership agreement between the Chinese developer and Deutsche Hospitality was signed during a special ceremony that took place at the construction site.
The hotelier expressed their delight with the deal, naming the opening of two hotels at Hangzhou Bay an important milestone for Deutsche Hospitality. From the Chinese side, the general manager of Hangzhou Bay Sunac Cultural City signed the deal. For Deutsche Hospitality, these are going to be the first two hotels in China jointly built with a local developer. The two parties hope for effective collaboration and successful work.
One of the two hotels will work under the Steigenberger Classic Hotel brand. It will have 227 rooms. Deutsche Hospitality points out that the new hotel will meet the highest standards in hospitality and will be a great choice for all guests who want to get the best service possible. The property will feature luxury European style. The other hotel in Sunac Cultural Tourism City will be operating under the Steigenberger Future Hotel brand. This hotel will be slightly bigger it will have almost 300 rooms. Deutsche Hospitality says that this is going to be an “avant-garde hotel” with the support of modern technologies and up-to-date equipment.
Sunac Cultural Tourism City is an ambitious project in Haiyan County that will feature four theme parks, hotels, a shopping area, and a business quarter. Initially, there should have been a Six Flags project on this site but it was suspended and then replaced. The theme parks will include an outdoor waterpark, a polar ice world, a children’s park, and a land park. The parks are due to open by July 2021.
