Located between Iceland and Norway, the Faroe Islands aren’t a travel destination that many tourists know about. The archipelago consisting of 18 isles mostly attracts tourists with its amazing beauty. It is also a growing gastronomic destination. Surprisingly, there weren’t any hotels by internationally famous hospitality companies on the islands but Hilton decided to change this. Hilton Garden Inn Faroe Islands has become the first branded hotel on the islands.
The new hotel is located in Torshavn, the spectacular capital of the Faroe Islands. From here, tourists can easily reach such famous attractions as the National Museum, Svartafoss Waterfall, and Nordic House. The Faroe Islands hotel by Hilton has 130 guestrooms. A part of the rooms offers marvelous views of the surrounding nature.
Hilton decided to add a hotel on the Faroe Islands to its portfolio in an attempt to connect adventurous nature enthusiasts and the unspoiled islands known for their beauty. As a pioneer in many destinations, Hilton expressed interest in building a modern and sustainable hotel. Sustainability is a core feature of a new property. In line with Travel with Purpose 2030 Goals, Hilton decided to reduce its environmental footprint in half by the end of this decade.
Here are some of the steps taken to make the hotel more sustainable. For example, the hotel’s heating will be provided by a local power plant that uses waste from salmon fishing and turns it into energy. Meat, vegetable, and fish for Hilton Garden Inn Faroe Islands will come from local suppliers. As the islands’ climate is not always suitable for agriculture, vegetables will grow in polytunnels and then served in seasonal dishes. LED lights, intelligent lighting with motion sensors, motion sensor water taps, and water saving-showers will minimize the consumption of the resources.
Dining options will include Hallartun, a French bistro type restaurant, and Shop 24, a 24/7 grab-and-go shop with snacks, drinks, and ready-to-cook food. The new hotel will also have one of the first wellness centers on the islands with a sauna, a 24h fitness center, and an outdoor Jacuzzi. Five meeting rooms of different sizes can host events with up to 250 visitors. The hotel on the Faroe Islands by Hilton is a worthy addition to the hospitality industry of the region and can help many global travelers to discover this unique destination.
