The Six Senses announced their entry to a new European country Italy. The company will open a hotel in Rome. The news appeared soon after the company’s debut in such important destinations as Singapore, London, and New York.
The Six Senses hotel in Rome will have quality food, sustainable design, and wellness as its main pillars. It will be open in a palazzo-style old building in the historic center of Rome. Such iconic attractions of the Italian capital as the Pantheon and Fontana di Trevi are located just several blocks away. The hotel will be a perfect choice for tourists interested in luxury shopping because such famous shopping streets as Via Condotti, Borgognona, and Frantina are easy to reach on foot. The hotel will be open on Piazza di San Marcello, a beautiful square facing the 16th-century church.
The new hotel in Rome will feature 95 guest rooms and suites, a restaurant, a spa center, an outdoor garden, a special outdoor terrace for events, and a terrace on the roof with a striking 360° view of the central part of Rome and its monuments. The hotel’s building, Palazzo Salviati Cesi Mellini, dates back to the 18th century. This was a residence of cardinal-elders - Salviati, Cesi, and Mellini. As this is a UNESCO listed building, the restoration works and conversion to a hotel will be performed with great care. The building will preserve its main façade and the staircase.
The ground floor of the new hotel will have a social area great for meetings and gatherings. The outside botanical garden will have plants that are good for health. The trattoria with an open kitchen and a bar will have a contemporary look. A garden with organic fruits and vegetables is great for organizing Ancient Rome styled banquets. The first floor will also have Six Senses Spa and Roman baths with comfortable relaxation areas, a fitness center, and multiple treatment rooms.
The hotel’s restaurant will offer a modern interpretation of Italian cuisine with a focus on natural ingredients and primarily locally sourced seasonal products. As sustainability is one of the key themes of the hotel, “less is more” is a major rule when it comes to cooking food. The menu will include greens from the hotel’s garden. The Six Senses Hotel in Rome will also offer guests to visit the Earth Lab where they can find out more about sustainability and the Alchemy Bar where visitors can learn about different herbs and plants and see how to use them.
