Marriott International has a lot of interest in the Philippines and plans to significantly expand its portfolio in this country in the coming years. Recently, the hotelier reported that it would more than triple its portfolio of hotels in the Philippines within just five years. According to the famous hotel company, there is strong demand for Marriott-branded hotels from hotel owners, and so the hotelier plans to not only open more hotels under familiar brands but also introduce new hotel brands in the Philippines, such as The Ritz-Carlton, Westin, and Element.
At the moment, Marriott has four hotels operating in the country. The hotelier has really ambitious plans Marriott wants to open as many as 14 new hotels by the end of 2024. These hotels will add another 3,700 rooms to the hotel market of the country. Marriott plans to add hotels to both new and existing destinations. For example, there will be hotels in Cebu, Davao, and Caticlan; Palawan and Mactan hotels. These are going to be converted existing hotels and new properties.
The idea to more than triple the hotel portfolio in the Philippines is not random. Marriott has seen an increased demand for its hotels as the tourism and economy of the country are growing. Expanding portfolio at such speed is not easy, but the hotelier thinks it is totally achievable thanks to bonds with trusted hotel owners.
Earlier in 2019, Marriott opened a hotel in Manila. The 390-room Sheraton-branded property was also the first hotel by this brand in the country. This hotel is particularly suitable for business travelers as the Sheraton Hotel in Manila is the first hotel with a co-working space. The hotel is a part of a larger complex, Resorts World Manila. It is the very first thing that tourists arriving at the Terminal 3 of Ninoy Aquino International Airport see.
Some future hotels have already scheduled opening dates. These are the Marriott Resort & Spa hotel in Caticlan (opens in 2021), the Courtyard by Marriott Caticlan (2021), the Westin Sonata Place (2021), and the Element Palawan Puerto Princesa (2024). The new hotels will have distinctive features that may attract more guests. For example, the Courtyard by Marriott Caticlan will be located in the territory of a world-class water park. The Westin hotel will offer a state-of-art spa salon, and the Element hotel will be an ideal choice for all eco-conscious travelers.
