This week, JW Marriott opened its first Marquis Hotel in China. This is a hotel in Shanghai that is located in Pudong, one of the most dynamic and vibrant commercial districts in the city. The highly anticipated 515-room luxurious hotel is an excellent choice for both business travelers and leisure tourists as it has simple access to such famous attractions as the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition and Convention Center, Shanghai Oriental Sports Center, and the Mercedes-Benz Cultural Arena. Visitors will also find it easy to get to the Shanghai Disney Resort, Shanghai Pudong International Airport, and Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport from the hotel.
The hotel is easy to recognize because it is open in a high-rise building near the Huangpu River. The 39-story Marquis hotel in Shanghai is designed by the well-known architecture company Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP (SOM). As the hotel is located close to the river, water elements were the major inspiration in the design. The hotel has slant 12-17 degrees glass panels that offer a better view of the city’s skyline. A heated indoor infinity pool may become one of the most popular parts of the hotel. The pool has large floor-to-ceiling windows and Dyson hairdryers. The hotel’s spa center offers a range of innovative treatments to rejuvenate the face and body.
Guestrooms deserve a separate mention. They feature an elegant and sumptuous design, which is a skillful mix of modern and classic. Cream and white are the main colors, but there are also bright accents and different textures, such as wood, glass, marble, and fabric. All guestrooms come with premium amenities, Simmons mattresses, Nespresso coffee machines, and 55-inch Samsung TVs.
Of course, the luxurious hotel provides its guests with a luxurious dining experience. The Le Manoir King restaurant offers fusion cuisine with French, Cantonese, and Shanghai’s traditional Hai Pai influences. The Merchant Kitchen is a casual all-day restaurant with several eating areas. Flint is a grill restaurant designed in the style of the mid-19th century New York. Finally, there is also a rooftop garden with a cafĂ© and an Executive Lounge.
Business guests will be pleased with the hotel’s meeting and banquet space. There are 12 multifunctional rooms for all kinds of meetings and smaller events. For larger events, the Grand Marquis Ballroom and the Junior Marquis Ballroom have enough space for 800 and 600 guests respectively.
