Six Senses has prepared something really unique for all fans of one-of-a-kind destinations. It will open a hotel in Össurá Valley that is roughly a 30-minute drive from the Hofn Airport. It is a true gift for everyone who likes clean air, wild nature, and Northern Lights. The new hotel is set to open in 2022.
Wellness, adventure, comfortable rooms, and fine dining these are the key characteristics of the new hotel. It has a fantastic location on a 4,000-acre plot of land in Svínhólar, not far from Lóni. Guests will be able to walk to the Lon Lagoon that is located at the southern end of the area. This lagoon, which is divided by a black sand beach from the North Atlantic Ocean, is known as the largest gathering area for swans in Iceland. Six Senses will patronage the gracious birds and will be involved in measures to protect them.
During the first phase of the project, Six Senses will open a 70-room hotel building and private cottages. These fully sustainable cottages will be scattered in the territory. Later, the hotelier will add residences that will let people get their new home in this fantastic place and yet enjoy all benefits that the Six Senses resort can offer. Comfortable and spacious guestrooms, cottages, and residences are built with locally-sourced materials in strict accordance with water and energy efficiency standards. However, the hotelier went one step further and involved experts who worked with the space taking into consideration electromagnetism, human bioenergy, sacred geometries, astrology, and Feng Shui principles.
The hotel will offer a comfortable lounge area, a library, Earth Lab dedicated to sustainability efforts, a cinema, fitness center, yoga studio, and a spa. Moreover, the territory will include an organic garden and a cooking school where guests can learn to cook healthy and nutritious food, as well as local seasonal dishes. The all-day dining restaurant at Six Senses Össurá Valley will offer seafood delicacies.
The area around the hotel deserves a separate mention. The property will be surrounded by scenic mountains, the gorgeous Össurá Valley and River. To the service of guests, there are such activities as ice and rock climbing, dog sledding, bird watching, horseback riding, and boat trips. There is also the Vatnajökull National Park nearby that is famous as the location of the largest glacier in Europe. The dramatic scenery of the park has always attracted many people, so it is featured in many blockbuster films and TV series.
