A very unusual hotel has appeared in London, the UK, and it will certainly appeal to all fans of anti-luxury. While many travelers search for high-class accommodation with exceptional service, the name of this new hotel says it all it’s a one-star hotel. Located in Shoreditch, the new hotel is open by Converse, a famous shoe brand. It prepares to launch a new collection with the same name, One Star, and decided to commemorate that with the opening of a new hotel.
The new hotel is open in a five-story building, the design of which is focused on sneakers, skates, music, culture, and style. It’s a truly unusual place that you, probably, have never seen before. The design of One Star hotel in London is a tribute to the street culture of the British capital. To prove its “low” rating, the Converse hotel offers zero sleep for its guests, loud neighbors, and staff with attitude. While some of these promises must be a joke, it will definitely be not easy to sleep in eclectic guest rooms of the new hotel.
Shoreditch is a perfect location for the One Star Hotel that is all about the counter-culture and protest. Its guest rooms were designed by true “anti-heroes” of our time, such as Yung Lean, A$AP Nast, and MadeMe. The hotel has a venue with live music, where guests can attend gigs of Slowthai, IAMDDB, and Princess Nokia. There is even a workshop by The Basement and Paria Farzaneh. Moreover, Converse offers exclusive sneakers made particularly for this hotel that will be available for sale at One Star only.
The design of the new hotel is worth seeing because it is full of interesting details and unusual solutions. Upon entering the lobby, you will see a 15-year-old streetwear enthusiast gullyguyleo who greets guests of the hotel. Rooms at One Star London feature their own unique style. For example, the “Step Into Sweetness” room is made in the colors of Converse Spring 2018 collection. It’s a futurist room that combines music, taste, and cotton candy color.
The GRAPE room is inspired by Converse CONS One Star Pro Grape series. This room also tells a story of Jamie Platt, a young skater from Birmingham. Currently, Platt is 20 years old, and he bought his first pair of Converse when he was just five. By the way, the hotel will soon host a two-day long Mahjong tournament supported by Tizzy T, hip hop artist from Beijing. The winner will meet Tizzy T and get a pair of exclusive Converse One Stars.
