One of the most famous hotels in Berlin, Hotel Aldon by Kempinski, has started an investigation against its own employees. The employees are accused of selling drinks and items that were the property of the hotel to guests and keeping the money. By using such a scheme, the staff managed to steal as much as 1 million euro.
The criminals were secretly selling drinks and items for quite a long time and were successful in hiding their “business”. However, after a series of internal checks, it was clear that something was wrong. The number of employees participating in the illegal sale is not known. The hotel’s management revealed that a thorough investigation was started. It is also underlined that the investigation concerns only employees as hotel guests were not affected and none of them suffered any loss or damage.
The news may have a negative influence on the reputation of the Aldon. The iconic hotel, which overlooks the Brandenburg Gate, regularly hosts top guests of the German capital, including famous politicians like former President of the United States Barack Obama. The hotel was also chosen by Michael Jackson in 2002. During his stay at the Aldon, Jackson dangled his baby girl over a balcony in order to show her to numerous fans of the musician.
