New hotels in Palma de Mallorca do not appear very often nowadays, so the opening of two projects is a significant event for Meliá Hotels International. The famous European hotelier was chosen as a managing organization for Palau de Congressos de Palma, a new convention center, and the Meliá Palma Bay hotel that adjoins it. The two projects will be launched already this weekend.
The hotelier hopes that Palau de Congressos de Palma will become the best Convention Centre in the Mediterranean and will be present in the list of top destinations for various international meetings and congresses. The new Convention Centre enjoys a prime location on Paseo Maritimo seafront. It takes only five minutes to reach the center from the airport, but at the same time it’s close to the historical center of the city and the cathedral, not to mention the breathtaking views of Palma Bay. The design of the center was developed by famous architect Francisco Mangado, who wanted both buildings to be integrated with the promenade. He also constructed the main units autonomous, so the grand auditorium, the small auditorium and exhibition areas can be used separately, allowing energy saving and reduction of maintenance costs. The Grand Auditorium can provide space for more than 1,900 people, and this is a unique construction for the Balearic Islands. The Small Auditorium can host up to 462 people, while the exhibition areas are 2,340 sq. meter large.
The Meliá Palma Bay Hotel has 268 rooms and is focused on the trendy “360º wellbeing” philosophy. Everything in rooms beds, pillows, mini-bar, showers, modern technology and even in-room fitness are targeted at providing maximum comfort and relaxation. The hotel comes with the rooftop terrace with a swimming pool with spectacular panoramic views of the bay.
