The Official Xinhua News reported about a devastating blaze in a hotel in the southeast of China. According to the data from the rescue teams, as many as 10 people were killed in the fire.
The fire started on a peaceful Saturday morning in Nanchang. This is a large inland city in China and the capital of Jiangxi province. Luckily, there were not many people inside the hotel as it was in the middle of renovation works, so rescue teams had mostly fight with the fire to save lives of workers who were inside the building at that time. The fire quickly gathered around a dozen fire trucks. Videos from the site can be seen in Chinese social media.
As it is reported by Xinhua, one person was injured because of jumping from the second floor of the hotel in order to escape the fire and was taken to the hospital. The reason for the blaze is yet to be discovered during the investigation. It is known that ten people were detained by the police. According to one version, the fire could be caused by tools that were used to cut materials during the renovation works. Unfortunately, fires are not rare in China as the country’s safety regulations need some revamp and fire exits are not uncommon to be blocked.
