Scandic Hotels, the largest hospitality company in the Nordic countries, announced the start of a long-term partnership with Utstillingsplassen Eiendeom A/S, Norway. Together the companies will rebrand and open two Scandic hotels the Ambassadeur Hotel and the Globus Hotel in Drammen. Both the properties will start operating under the new name in the beginning of next year.
The hotels are located on Strømsø square only 50m away from the train station of Drammen. The hotels are both independently owned properties, and Scandic will act as a managing company. The Ambassadeur Hotel is located in a historic building constructed in the late 1800s, it’s a well-known place in the city that attracts both locals and tourists. During the renovation, both the buildings will be integrated into one bigger hotel. After renovation and rebranding, the hotel will have almost 300 guestrooms, 13 conference rooms, dining facilities and a bar. The opening of such a hotel will allow to more than double the guestroom capacity of Scandic in Drammen.
Drammen is the fifth largest city in Norway. Located 40km east of Oslo, Drammen is also the terminal station on the railway line that leads to Oslo Airport. The population of the city is 63,000 people, and the region in general is home to 150,000 people.
Scandic is the largest hotel chain in Scandinavia with almost 230 hotels with 144,000 guestrooms. The company provides jobs for more than 14 thousand people and was named the Best Hotel Brand in the Nordic countries.
