Astoria 7 Hotel in San Sebastian (Spain) has refurbished one of its suites to fit needs of wheelchair guests. The change was done as a part of an ambitious project by the hotel Astoria 7 wants to offer accommodation that matches three criteria: autonomy, security and comfort.
It cost 20,000 euro to prepare the Travolta suite for wheelchair guests. The result is really awesome as guests of different disability level can use multiple services without any help. TV, lights, ceiling crane, closing system, curtains and even door opening were upgraded to fit guests with special needs. The automation system was provided by Adom Autonomia, which has become quite popular internationally due to its various accessibility projects.
The Travolta suite is particularly notable for its automated crane system, which allows moving the guest from the bed to the bathroom in one go. The crane supports weight of up to 200 kilograms and has a 6 meter long guide rail that connects bedroom and bathroom, so people with functional diversity will find it very simple to attend bathroom and may be able to perform tasks on their own without any assistance from a caregiver. The new suite is already available for booking.
