First Rooftop Pool in the City at W Hotel in Amsterdam
W Hotels Worldwide, which is a part of Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, announced opening of its hotel in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. This is the first W branded hotel in the Dutch capital and in the country in general. The hotel will surely attract guests by Wet Deck – the first rooftop pool in Amsterdam.
The long waited hotel enjoys a prime location in the heart of Amsterdam, which is widely recognized as one of most popular European destinations. The 238 guestroom hotel occupies two buildings – the former Telephone Exchange and KAS Bank buildings. The design is result of work of Office WINHOV, Baranowitz Kronenberg Architects and local designers. The main aim of the designer team was to refresh the look of the historic buildings and create modern atmosphere that W hotels are famous for.
The Exchange building has become home for 172 stylish guestrooms. These rooms are already available for booking, while the remaining 66 guestrooms in the Bank building are set to open early next year. W Amsterdam features 21 suites, 3 WOW suites and 2 Extreme WOW suites (W brand’s alternative to the Presidential Suite). Guests of the hotel are welcome to enjoy SPG keyless – room access with smartphone or another wearable device.
The traditional hotel lobby was replaced by stylish W Lounge at the roof of the building. The lounge, which is also the check-in place, is located on the sixth floor of the building and features four outdoor terraces with fantastic 360-degree views of canals and sights of Amsterdam. The 22 metres long WET DECK rooftop pool is heated in winter. This is the place where visitors can enjoy city views while drinking cocktails. The hotel features Mr Porter rooftop steakhouse and bar, The Duchess restaurant, Fit fitness centre, and even Xbank – a 700sq.m. large exhibition gallery for local designers and artists.
