With raising popularity of various gadgets, it has become absolutely normal to see many people with tangled power chords who search for electrical outlets in coffee shops and other public spaces. This is particularly true about travellers, who need to keep in touch with their families, friends, and colleagues. Marriott is aware of this, and so they partnered with Kube Systems to supply Greatroom lobbies of Marriott hotels with portable charging stations. The program was launched in first 29 hotels, but soon more hotels will be added to it.
The idea to install portable charging stations appeared from feedback on TravelBrillianly.com, the website created by Marriott and dedicated to interaction between the company and its customers. Many travellers expressed their wish to get more convenient way to charge their devices, many of which, like iPhone, iPad or Android, are power hungry. Marriott listened to that feedback and started collaboration with Kube.
According to surveys, most business travellers take two to three portable devices with them on business trips. Naturally, they need more convenient ways to charge their devices on the way. The new KS Portable system used in Marriott hotels allows charging virtually any device without any cables and adaptors. The portable chargers can power up to 6 devices at the same time. Simply put a compatible device on the transmitter, and charging will start automatically. Currently, these portable stations are available only in selected US hotels and work in test mode, but the company plans to add this technology internationally.
