IHG will add two more hotels to its portfolio by signing management deals of InterContinental hotel in Lisbon and Crowne Plaza hotel in Porto. The properties will operate in accordance with agreement between IHG and Hotelgal.
The first hotel, InterContinental Lisbon, will be located in the area of Park Edouardo VII. The hotel is set to open already within several weeks, after refurbishment of the lobby and public areas is over. The hotel building was constructed in 1984, and initially it was used as Le Meridien Hotel. In 2008, it was rebranded as the Tiara Park Atlantic Lisbon Hotel. The hotel has 237 spacious guestrooms, 78 executive rooms, 16 suites, 18 meeting rooms, a special fitness area, a restaurant and a bar, and delegate space.
The second hotel, the Park Atlantic Hotel Porto, is located in the business district of the city, Avenida da Boavista. The hotel will also undergo a refurbishment, after which it will start operating as Crowne Plaza Porto. The new hotel will consist of 161 guestrooms, 42 suites, 29 executive guestrooms, 11 meeting rooms, and a restaurant.
For years, Lisbon has been one of most popular destinations in Southern Europe, and beneficial location near Park Edouardo VII may attract more visitors to the hotel. Crowne Plaza Porto, in its turn, will become popular with business travellers as IHG hopes.
