Marriott International has announced the launch of its new program for China called Marriott Apprentice Program (MAP program). The program, which was prepared by American Hotel & Lodging Association Education Institute together with Nankai University, will help Chinese students become professionals in hospitality.
The new program is available both in campus and online. Students will need to undergo a five year long hotel education program that is divided into two large parts. First 18 months students will learn on campus, and then they will have 36 months of internship and online learning at Marriott hotels. Nankai University is responsible for classroom instructions, curriculum and general coordination of the program. Students, who successfully finish the program, will get two certificates a certificate from Nankai University and a certificate from American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute. Outstanding students will get a wonderful offer from Marriott they will be included in the Global Voyage Program, the Marriott’s “incubator for future leaders”, that connects graduates from elite universities around the world.
China is one of key target markets for Marriott, so it’s natural the company wants to educate best staff for its hotels. The hotelier is sure the new program will bring the hospitality education in China to the next level.
