Travel network Virtuoso regularly posts its ratings of most sought after destinations around the world. Latest rating has brought some unexpected changes to the list. The whole rating was recently presented to the public at Virtuoso Travel Week that takes place in Las Vegas every year. Within a year, Virtuoso had over US$32 billion in client transactions, and countries with the biggest growth are displayed in the list.
The first place is occupied by New Zealand the growth of popularity here estimated 196%! The country is followed by Chile and Indonesia, both with the growth of 103%. As many as +86% more clients wanted to visit Hungary, and the growth of popularity of Hong Kong estimated 72%. Croatia got +68% more visitors, and Australia - +58%. These countries are followed by Ecuador, Greece and Norway that posted the growth of popularity of 57%, 57%, and 54%.
In general, the company mentions that non-U.S. destinations are getting more popular. The list of most popular destinations in general is different from the list of the countries with the fastest growing popularity. This rank is headed by Italy that is followed by the United Kingdom. France occupied the third place, while Canada and Spain occupied fourth and fifth places consequently. The ranking from 5 to 10 is occupied by Germany, Mexico, South Africa, Netherlands, and Greece.
