Now Poland also has hotels that meet all strict environmental requirements of EU Ecolabel certification. The first company to reach that honourable status was Scandic. Now Scandic hotels in Gdansk and Wroclaw are labelled as green.
Scandic started implementing measures regarding eco-friendly hotels yet in 1993. It took many years and efforts to make one of best sustainability programs in the industry, and the company’s green hotels are really something Scandic can be proud of. Currently, Nordic Ecolabel and EU Ecolabel are given to as many as 120 Scandic properties. Now Scandic hotels in Gdansk and Wroclaw are added to this list.
The EU Ecolable certificate is given to a hotel after it has passed a thorough check. The requirements include strict following of environmental policy and numerous adjustments in different facilities. The requirements of the European Commission cover both local and global level. Scandic hotels use clean energy, have efficient garbage removal and segregation system, feature many natural materials throughout the hotel and minimized food waste, and generally have low impact on environment.
