The Dorchester Hotel in central London suffered from smash-and-grab thieves who robbed jewelry displays of one of the best known luxury hotels in the country. A group of men on mopeds smashed cabinets, took away jewelry and left before the police appeared on the spot of the crime.
As the police reports, the gang consisted of six men. They reached the Dorchester hotel in Mayfair early in the morning, left their mopeds behind the building and ran inside. In the hotel, the men smashed special display cabinets and took away jewelry and watches. The police quickly appeared in the hotel and started pursuing the thieves, but they managed to run away on Shaftesbury Avenue. According to the police, the whole heist was well-planned. While rushing from the hotel, one of bikers hit a young woman on Cambridge Circus. Naturally, the thief escaped, and the woman was sent to hospital with injured leg.
Currently, the police are in the process of investigation and ask everyone who was near Park Lane on the time of robbery or who may have seen the thieves to report to the police. As the robbery was well-planned, the thieves may have abettors, so even small information is important.
This type of robbery, when thieves arrive on bikes and smash jewelry stores displays, is not new in London as a number of places in the city already suffered from a similar crime.
