Hilton Worldwide has finally debuted on luxury hotel market of Beijing with its exclusive Waldorf Astoria brand. Even though Waldorf Astoria is the first hotel of this brand in the capital of China, it is the second Waldorf Astoria in the country. The luxury hotel is only operated by Hilton Worldwide, and the building’s owner is China Oil & Foodstuffs Corp.
The location of the new hotel is not only convenient, but there is also a story behind it. Waldorf Astoria Beijing is located on the site of the former Xianliang Temple. Many years ago the temple was the residence of the first Chinese guest who visited the Waldorf Astoria hotel in New York.
The new hotel has 176 guestrooms, 38 suites included. The design of inner premises was developed by Yabu Pushelberg, who skillfully mixed local traditions and modern design. Guests can stay either in the main bronze-clad tower building or in the Waldorf Hutong Villas. These villas are distinguished by more traditional design inspired by imperial history of the country. The villas have their private entrances and even a garden courtyard. Dining facilities are represented by Peacock Alley, where guests are welcome to enjoy tea, various cocktails, and light snacks; Zijin Mansion, which serves Beijing and Cantonese cuisine, and Brasserie 1893, where guests can see how their orders are made in a show kitchen. The hotel also offers a spa, a heated indoor pool, various meeting and event facilities.
