Marriott International definitely considers Europe one of its main markets, and the recent news only proves that. Just in four years, the globally famous hotelier has signed 27,000 new guestrooms in the region and presented five new brands in Europe Residence Inn by Marriott, Autograph Collection, AC Hotels by Marriott, Moxy and Edition. The total number of Marriott branded hotels in Europe has doubled since 2010. Last year can be safely called a record one for Marriott as the company signed 67,000 new guestrooms.
Within next two years, the hotelier will open 38 new hotels in Europe in different segments. For example, in September Marriott will open the first hotel under its new affordable brand Moxy. This is going to be Moxy hotel in Milan. In February 2015, the luxury segment of the company will get one more gem JW Marriott Resort & Spa in Venice. The posh hotel is located on a private island. In recent years, the company will also finish the renovation of London Marriott Hotel Kensington and Paris Marriott Rive Gauche.
Last year, Marriott opened hotels in all major countries of Europe. In the UK, the company had several major hotel launches. The company opened St. Ermis Hotel, Edition, and Threadneedles hotels in London, an Autograph Collection hotel in Edinburgh, Powerscourt hotel in Ireland, Marriott Aberdeen Airport Hotel. The company has also doubled its presence in France and Italy. The company now has 23 hotels in Italy and 21 hotels in France. This year, The Autograph Collection will get two hotels in Spain, namely properties in Fontecruz Sevilla and Fontecruz Toledo. New AC Hotels will also appear in Antibes, Paris, and Nice. Finally, under the Renaissance Hotels brand the company will open the Renaissance Paris Hippodrome de St. Cloud Hotel and Renaissance Aix en Provence. In Germany, the following hotels are set for opening Marriott Cologne, Moxy hotel in Munich, Moxy hotel in Berlin, Moxy Berlin Airport, and Frankfurt Gateway Gardens.
