Hotels in France, Poland, Cyprus, Italy, Portugal, Turkey and Poland reported the drop of average daily rates. In some areas the price per night fell to the level of January 2011. This information is indicated in the latest report by Trivago.
The report is based on 23 most popular European countries. If taking the region in total, hotel rates there decreased by 7% compared to the same period of 2013. This month, the price of one night estimates £82, while during the same period of 2013 it was higher - £88.
Hotels in Poland feature the highest drop in rates 57% compared to the most expansive month (June 2012), when the average hotel daily rate was £106. Currently, the average cost of one night in hotels in Poland is £46. Other destinations with highest drop in hotel rates are Cyprus (-52% compared to the highest rate, £128 in August 2011) and Turkey (-51% compared to the highest rate, £143 in May 2013) hotels.
If taking in consideration separate cities, hotels in Vienna, Rome and Istanbul posted lowest hotel rates since January 2011. This February, the average price of one night in hotels in Rome estimated £79. The same price in Vienna hotels is higher - £83, and £71 in hotels in Istanbul.
If we compare February 2013 and 2014 prices, hotels in Norway post the biggest decline (-15% to an average of £123). They are followed by Bulgaria hotels (-15% to £46 per night), hotels in France (-12% to £100) and Sweden (-12% to £30).
