Radisson Blu hotel in Amsterdam has an ambitious plan to apply energy saving methods that will help the hotel reduce energy consumption by more than 25%. This will be reached thanks to Siemens Building Management System, LEDs and improved guestroom controls. The system developed by Siemens is a sophisticated program that can be adjusted in accordance with certain parameters. Moreover, the system can be changed by Siemens energy experts themselves remotely, so there’s no need to visit the hotel to make necessary maintenance or tuning works.
The pilot project in the Amsterdam hotel is a part of the global Think Planet energy saving program by Rezidor. The main target of the program is to reduce energy consumption in Rezidor hotels by 25% in 5 years. The program was launched last year, and it is based on the following principles: the use of various energy saving solutions, installation of LEDs and motion sensors. All new Rezidor hotels will come with all these features, and existing hotels will gain them during major renovations.
Siemens has good results in developing and applying various energy and pollution control systems. The company has its own Energy Efficiency Program that is put into action in approximately 20 production facilities. This helps Siemens save approximately 5.5 million Euro annually on energy costs and reduce its CO2 emissions by 18,000 metric tons.
