It is reported that The Grand Hotel Heiligendamm has changed its owner. The posh hotel located at the German part of Baltic Sea has had rich history and many famous visitors. For example, in 2007 the hotel was used as the location of G8 meeting. Later the Grand Hotel Heiligendamm went bankrupt, and it was bought by a German accountant. The sum of the deal is not disclosed.
The new owner of the property is Paul Morzynski, who is founder of a tax advisory firm headquartered in Hanover. After the purchase of the 200-guestroom hotel, Morzynski plans to keep running the property as a hotel.
The Grand Hotel Heiligendamm is located approximately 23 kilometres away from Rostock, a city in eastern Germany. This is a very old and respected hotel Heiligendamm is known as the oldest seaside resort in the whole country! The hotel started accepting guests in 1793. One more notable fact in the history of the hotel is the G8 meeting that took place in 2007. At that time the hotel was visited by such prominent figures as Angela Merkel, Tony Blair, George W. Bush, and Vladimir Putin. The hotel was reported bankrupt in February 2012, when its owner Fundus-Gruppe became unable to pay interest on its loans.
Paul Morzynski is the owner of another historic place Halloren chocolate factory, which age is over 200 years. The bankrupt factory was purchased by him in 1992.
