Swissôtel Hotels & Resorts has announced their new lounge zone called “DesignLab”. According to the Zurich-headquartered company, this lounge reflects “modern Swissness”. Also named as “Arvenstübli” (pine parlor), the new lounge design is a standard, and in future all executive lounges of Swissôtel hotels around the world will get a similar design.
The main aim of the new design was to unleash modern Swiss style and show how it can be blended with traditional design. Of course, designers had to take into consideration modern technologies. The corporate version of the lounge has a meeting room for employees and a waiting room.
The lounge is mostly made from traditional materials. Pine parlors have become the central part of the design. The panels have been used in Swiss houses for centuries. Drawers and furniture also have a distinct Swiss theme they are decorated in the traditional Swiss Graffito style. These ornaments can still be found on the facades of numerous buildings throughout the country, especially in the Swiss canton of Graubünden. The concept of the DesignLab was developed by Karsten Schmidt together with IDA14 team.
In future, Swissôtel wants to keep spreading their home country’s design concept and plans to make it truly internalized. The DesignLab is a place for communication and cooperation, and new design of the lounge will help creating healthy atmosphere.
