New Hotel in Vienna by Kempinski

News Kempinski has finally opened its Palais Hansen Kempinski hotel in Vienna. The iconic hotel is located in a historical building that was built as a hotel for the 1873 World Exhibition.

The original hotel was designed by Heinrich Forster and Theophil Edvard von Hansen. However, that hotel didn’t start operating. Todays, almost 150 years after its completion, the hotel finally serves its first guests. Of course, the hotel has undergone an extensive restoration. The design of Palais Hansen Kempinski Vienna was developed by architect Boris Podrecca, designer Jean-Claude Laville, and Austrian company Atelier Hayde Architekten. It took two and a half years to restore and redecorate the building.

The new hotel has 152 spacious guestrooms and suites. To the service of guests are also offered 17 private residential apartments. The hotel’s lobby is very convenient and is intended to become a so called “extended living room”. There is also the Lobby Lounge & Bar, where guests are welcome to enjoy delicious Viennese afternoon tea.

The hotel’s dining facilities are represented by Die Küche and Edvard. Die Küche, which is translated as “the Kitchen”, is a casual restaurant, the design of which reminds of a traditional farmers market. The hotel offers breakfasts and dinners inspired mostly by the traditional national cuisine. The restaurant is run by Chef Philipp Vogel and his professional team. Edvard is a place where guests are welcome to try seasonal food made mostly out of local ingredients. The name of the restaurant is inspired by the name of the original hotel’s architect. Finally, there is a bar called Henri Lou. It was named after Lou Andreas-Salome, a female writer. Because of this fact, both the bar’s manager and keeper are females.

The mezzanine of the building is occupied by Kempinski The Spa that is made in attractive Ottoman-inspired decor. Here visitors will find six treatment rooms, a steam room, a hydropool, a gym, and a sauna. The hotel’s meeting and event space is also located in the mezzanine. Here guests will find a large 280 sq. m. ballroom and six function rooms.
