Marriott International has announced a truly interesting project the famous hotelier plans to open a resort in Venice, located on the private island! The island of Sacca Sessola, which is located in the Venetian Lagoon, is simply an ideal place for the luxury resort that is to open in 2014.
The hotel will have 266 guestrooms and will work in accordance with a management agreement with Aareal Bank AG. In order to reach the hotel, guests will need to make a short boat ride from Venice to the island. By the way, despite popularity of the JW Marriott brand, this hotel in Venice will mark the brand’s debut in Italy. In total, there are 59 luxurious JW Marriott hotels in the world.
Currently, the European portfolio of the brand includes hotels in Cannes, Ankara, London, Bucharest, and Baku. These hotels are well-known for their authentic luxury experiences and attention to local heritage. Without a doubt, Venice, known as one of the most desirable travel destinations in the world, is a great addition to the JW Marriott brand.
The hotel will be surrounded by beautiful private gardens and olive grows. The design of guestrooms and suites of the hotel was developed by Matteo Thun & Partners, Milan. The hotel will be made mostly in soft colors that help relax and rejuvenate. The territory of the posh resort will include a health club, a spa center, and two swimming pools. Dining facilities will be represented by several restaurants and bars. Moreover, there is a newly restored church that makes the hotel a perfect choice for weddings. However, the resort may also attract business users as it has a meeting space of 13,000 perfect for different kinds of presentations, conferences and other events.
Sacca Sessola is a man-made island, the creation of which was ended in 1860. This is one of the largest islands in the area, and its total square is approximately 40 acres. In 19th and 20th century the island was home to several hospitals, so it is still covered with numerous parks and gardens. It takes approximately 15 minutes to get to the historic part of Venice from the island.
