DoubleTree to Enter Ireland

Hilton Worldwide will finally open a hotel in Ireland under its DoubleTree brand. The company has just signed a franchise agreement with Martinez Hotels & Resorts.

According to the deal, soon Morrison Hotel in Dublin will reopen as a DoubleTree by Hilton property. The conversion of the 138-guestroom property will be finished this February. The hotel will also undergo a US$9.3 million refurbishment. Even though this will be the first DoubleTree hotel in Ireland, Hilton already operates four hotels in the republic, and all the properties are located in the capital city of Dublin.

Even though Hilton plans to change the design of the property, many aspects about it will be maintained in order to keep the Morrison’s identity. Despite the fact that DoubleTree is a popular brand and it is widely recognized around the world, its design team tries to make every property unique and make hotels’ design reflect individuality of every location. By the way, the hotel changed its owner in the beginning of 2012, when it was sold by Ireland’s National Asset Management Agency to Elena Baturina, one of few Russian female billionaires and the wife of former Moscow Mayor Yury Luzhkov. Prior to this the hotel belonged to Irish pub and hotel developer Hugh O’Regan.

The Morrison Dublin will have a bar and two restaurants. The territory of the hotel will include a large fitness centre, a 24h business centre, and a large event space of 4,400 sq. ft.
