The new report by Micros eCommerce is dedicated to independent hotels and the way they use modern technologies for promotion. According to the report, as many as 62% of respondents do not take all advantages of the Internet, and do not offer extras, such as flowers or chocolate when booking a room online.
These days, independent hotels are integrated in the Internet. 85% of them have a Facebook page, and 75% have a Twitter account. Surprisingly, only 43% of hotels update their Facebook pages to notify about on-going promotions and offers. Among the Twitter users, only 35% say they respond when given a question via this site. TripAdvisor is the third most popular website with independent hotels. 37% of hotels say they answer every feedback (positive and negative) on this website.
The growth of popularity of smartphones and tablets is hard to overestimate, but only 10% of independent hotels have a website optimized for mobile phones. Finally, only 6% of hotels allow booking not only a guestroom, but a table at the hotel’s restaurant.
