Hilton Worldwide expands its activities aimed at making its hotels more environment-friendly. This time the company has launched its mattress recycling program. It is reported that 85% of each mattress will be turned into new products. The range of products made from mattresses is really wide – steel springs for vehicles, cotton fibres for oil filters, and even shelves and floors.
Hotels now can not only report the change of mattresses, but also track their recycling. When they renovate rooms, they can also donate other items. The donations are accepted by Good360, a charity program that works with local non-profit organizations and identifies whether they need cased goods.
Hilton reports that is hotels have purchased over 50,000 mattresses within 2 years, and that’s in the US only. The program will be beneficial to everyone. Owners of Hilton hotels all over the world will have another opportunity to save, and Hilton will reduce its waste output.
This program is a part of a five-year goal of Hilton. The goal was reported to have been reached last month. The waste produced by Hilton hotels was reduced by 20%.
