Hilton Worldwide has launched one more charity initiative. The internationally famous hotelier has started a partnership with The Global FoodBanking Network and Feeding America. The main aim of the partnership is to help reducing hunger around the world. According to the new program, Hilton will collect surplus food and beverages left from daily operations, conferences and other events, and will give it to people in need instead of throwing.
Hilton will transfer the food to local food banks of Feeding America and The Global FoodBanking Network. Regional agencies of these organizations will then distribute the food to school feeding programs, soup kitchens, hospices, and other programs. The company will first start in several hotels in the US, and the food collected from them will be distributed by Feeding America. The pilot program with The Global FoodBanking Network will start in Egypt.
Currently the hotelier discusses some other volunteer activities with the abovementioned organizations. Hilton wants to work with local food bank partners and track its donations using LightStay. The program of food donation is a part of the global aim of the company to reduce its waste output. Hilton already donates hotel soap and other reusable goods to charity organizations.
