According to the new data published by STR Global, hotels in London benefited from the Olympic Games that helped them to boost both RevPAR and ADR levels.
The games, which started on July 27 and ended August 12, were a big hit in terms of occupancy of London accommodations. The average occupancy during the games estimated 88.5% and this is almost 5% higher than during the same period of 2011. ADR went up to the level of £212.22 (US$333.94) and showed the rise of 86.1% comparing to the previous year.
Summing up the games, Elizabeth Randall Winkle, managing director of STR Global, told London Olympics had been definitely distinguished by warm and very friendly atmosphere. They received a lot of positive feedback from both athletes and spectators who enjoyed the games. The games went smooth and received a lot of coverage on a global TV. Many viewers now have positive image of London and want to visit the city, so they expect Olympics have a long-term positive effect on hotel industry of the capital of the UK. Now London hotels expect to boost their revenues from the Paralympic Games that started in the city on August 29 and will last to September 9.
