Starwood Hotels & Resorts will debut on the market of South Korea with its Aloft hotel brand. Aloft hotel in Suwon is the result of collaboration between Starwood and Youngshin HRD. Co, Ltd., a local developer. The debut of Aloft brand in South Korea is scheduled for the end of 2012. Aloft Suwon is the result of the company’s desire to expand its Asia Pacific portfolio and strengthen its positions in South Korea.
As Stephen Ho, the president of Asia Pacific branch of Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, mentioned, the company was planning to open more hotels in the region and South Korea was one of the primary markets. The company already successfully operates Westin Chosun Busan, and wants to bring aloft brand to the country. The hotel in Suwon is an addition to ten Aloft hotels in the Asia Pacific region that already work.
Aloft Hotels are widely recognized for their sleek urban style and catchy promotions. The brand declares “style at a steal” philosophy and tries to be at the edge of various trends and initiatives. This is a perfect choice for travellers of the next generation, who want to be in touch with new trends in music, design and technology, but are not ready to pay a lot for this. TripAdvisor has even included the hotel to its list of “Top 25 Trendiest hotels in the US and around the world”. Aloft brand has quickly gained sufficient popularity thanks to its vibrant design, various services and very attractive prices.
The new hotels will be located in the heart of historical part of Suwon, Yeongtong-dong. Suwon is a modern city and the capital of Gyeonggi-do province. This is a large industrial centre of the country, which is home to digital city by Samsung Electronics, 14 university campuses and a large factory complex. The city is located approximately 30 km from Seoul and 60 km from the international airport, and features very convenient and high quality transport system.
Aloft Suwon will be a part of mixed use development. Besides the hotel the complex will include retail and residential spaces. The hotel will occupy floors from 4 through 11 and will have 120 guestrooms (114 standard rooms and 6 suites). The territory of the hotel will also include a large meeting space, a signature lounge, a bar, an all-day dining restaurant and other dining facilities.
